Photo Books to Publish Stories for Children - July 16, 2008
Photographers know that the images that they capture can tell a story; they also know that the publishing world isn't always receptive to new ideas - not until they're proven at least. With printed photo books, these photographers are able to self-publish rather than shelving their ideas for another time. Let's say that you've got a great idea for a children's book. The story came naturally to you - maybe it's something that you shared with your own kids or something that you've used to quiet the kids who are sitting for their portraits. You had a great response to it, and were told time and time again that you should publish. Maybe you started thinking about it and started realizing that adding images would make the story complete - but you're a photographer, not an illustrator. So you capture the right shots to go with the words. At that point, you'll find that there are two options: shop for publishers - which can be time consuming and exasperating - or self-publish. When you choose to self-publish with printed photo books, you'll be able to download the book template, insert the words and photos, and order copies as you need them. Then you'll be able to sell the stories on your own. « Go Back |
